Man arrested for transporting young victim

OMAR ABEL RODRIGUEZ, a 21-year-old male, was arrested May 18, 2006, by the El Paso Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for transporting a minor with the intent to have sexual relations.

Rodriguez, of El Paso, met a 15-year-old female victim from Oregon on MySpace.com. Rodriguez drove the victim from Oregon to the El Paso, Texas, area.

Rodriguez was arrested without incident for violation of 18 U.S.C. 2423. The victim was recovered and has been moved to a shelter. If convicted, Rodriguez could face up to 15 years in prison.
