Bank robber arrested

Special Agent in Charge Manuel E. Mora announced today that El Paso’s latest bank robber was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crimes Task Force.

Victor Munoz III, an 18 year old male from the El Paso, Texas, area was arrested last night in New Mexico for the city’s 13th bank robbery which occurred November 26, 2007, at the Chase Bank, 5209 Wren.

The investigation by the El Paso FBI and the El Paso Police Department led to information that Munoz was a person of interest in the robbery. A look out bulletin was distributed to area law enforcement for Munoz and a blue Chevrolet pick-up truck with Virginia license plates. The U.S. Border Patrol detained Munoz November 27 as he was traveling through I-25 checkpoint at mile marker No. 26 in New Mexico. He was then arrested by the FBI.

Munoz will have his initial appearance in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on November 29, 2007.

The FBI was assisted by the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso Sheriff’s Department, both members of the Violent Crimes Task Force.
