March 30, 2008 Gadsden teacher arrestedAfter a three-year investigation the El Paso FBI/DEA Strike Force arrested David Munoz, 52, of Anthony, New Mexico, on March 28, 2008. Munoz, who is employed by the Gadsden Independent School District as a Special Education Diagnostician, was arrested in El Paso after meeting with two Strike Force undercover agents and receiving payment for his role in two deliveries of 50 kilograms of cocaine. It is alleged that Munoz traveled between New Mexico, Texas and Mexico on several occasions and participated in meetings with the undercover agents in order to facilitate these transactions. Munoz is scheduled to have his initial appearance in Federal Court Monday, March 31, 2008, where he will be charged under Title 21 with conspiracy to posses with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. Munoz could face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty. Assistant United States Attorney Steve Garcia is prosecuting this matter for the government.
